Will it create a Black Hole and kill us all or will it contribute to scientific research?

Won't kill us. maybe you but not me.
We won't learn to much compared to how much it costs to do.

Black holes are basically a lump if matter so dense that even light cannot resist against its gravitational pull. (interesting fact: black holes DO emit radiation, so the theory is... kind of incorrect)
I doubt particles circling inside a large torus would even come close to create a black hole.

| Theoretically, it will be able to turn cheaper elements into gold. That's usually viewed as a good thing.

Light is ray/beam and particle at the same time, that's why black holes can bend or consume light and emit radiation. Also the Hadron Collider can only create black holes at molecular size, which is not dangerous, because it collapses pretty fast.

| Isnt it trying to collide protons or someting and the chances two protons colliding is very minute. It's something like firing two nitting needles, one from the UK and one from somewhere like Brazil and expecting them to hit each other, point to point, in the middle of the ocean. How fucking likely is that?

No it's not.
When you do that, the price of gold will depreciate so fast. The only reason gold is expensive is because it's rare and hard to find. Once you can get it easily, it'll be about as expensive as iron.

Turn useless metals into useful metals then. Same idea still applies. Use a piece of crap to create something valuable in terms of use. In this case, it is a good thing.

| Very unlikely that it will create a black hole, and in the event it does, it will take over 10,000 years for it to even become big enough to be visible.

The upcoming experiments at the Large Hadron Collider have sparked fears among the public that the LHC particle collisions might produce doomsday phenomena, involving the production of stable microscopic black holes or the creation of hypothetical particles called strangelets.[44] Two CERN-commissioned safety reviews have examined these concerns and concluded that the experiments at the LHC present no danger and that there is no reason for concern,[45][46][47] a conclusion expressly endorsed by the American Physical Society.[48]

That's just the first thing that they're going to do with it. It is a giant collider. It will be able to do amazing things; manipulating atoms, creating new elements and isotopes that for instance, will be able to improve nuclear power, maybe making it more affordable and efficient.
And what cheetah said is very true. In ten thousand years we will be able to get rid of pathetically minisclule black holes.

Gold is a rather useless metal.
It just looks good. It's too soft to do anything by itself, that's why the most expensive gold necklaces you can buy are 24 carats, you have to mix some other metals inside for it to hold together.
Quite frankly, iron, copper, tin, lead are much more useful, just that they are more commonly found than gold.

So I'll take back the gold part. You could turn very cheap elements into say, titanium. Titanium is extremely useful (durable, light, strong), and also slightly inconveniantly expensive.
