In an acute-angled triangle ABC, draw height BH (H on AC). Then place points Q and M on BH and HC, respectively, so AQM is a rectangle triangle, straight in Q. if AM = MC and BC^2 - AB^2 = 144, find QM.
Answer
AM = MC
yes but there is no multiplication or nothing, they are distances in the triangle :/
I'm going to call AM == a and AH == m
BC^2 = AB^2 + AC^2 - 2(AC)(AH) ** propriety
BC^2 - AB^2 = (2a)^2 - 2(2a)(m)
BC^2 - AB^2 = 4a(a-m)
144 = 4a(a-m)
a(a-m)= 36
QM^2 = (AM)(HM)
QM^2 = a(a-m)
QM^2 = 36
QM = 6

Oh, so AM and MC are line segments?
Holy shit MichaelRein have you even taken Geometry? It's not even a freshman level course in most places.

In the US you take Geo/Trig in 9th grade, then Algebra in 10th.
Sense.

Algebra.
Sophomore.
I don't even. At my high school the standard sophomore course was Pre-Calc and Trig.

I know an 8th grader that has Algebra 2. No lie. We normally do algebra 1 in 8th grade (or if you don't pass some test in 7th grade, you get Algebra 1 in 8th)
