How do I cheat?

When using absolute value, do you automatically make everything positive, or does it just apply to the final product inside it?

Like would |-3+4| become 3+4=7
or would it be -3+4=1

Option two.
You do what is inside first, then the answer is always positive.

Noooooo, they work like parentheses. You do the what's inside first, and then you take the distance that number is from zero (aka, make it positive).
