|
|
Hey guys, I'm new here so don't go all flamey flamey on me.
So, lets get started.
I am planning on getting a new computer and I have nearly planned out what I am getting. I just want to ask fellow people what their opinions are.
Here is the list:
Intel Core i5 Quad Core 2.66Ghz CPU
Asus P7P55D Socket 1156 Motherboard
Corsair 4GB, 1600mhz Classic Dual Channel Memory
BFG GeForce GTS 250 OC Video Card - 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, (2) Dual Link DVI, SLI Ready
^^^
Those are the main parts I need. Some of you may think its over priced but it really isn't. The CPU + Motherboard + Ram all come in a bundle which adds up to about $510. The Core i5 let alone costs 230. Good bundle eh?
If you don't know what the OC stands for on the Video Card, it means its Overclocked. I find this video card amazing, just for $100. It is custom BFG Overclocked and any other Video Card that has been OC'ed by the manufacturer must be good.
Just leave your comments under and I'll be delighted hearing from all of you! |

i5 750 is just about $150 at MicroCenter. Amazing deal, but only B&M.
HD 4870 512MB, or wait for RV800/GT300 to hit the shelves.
You're still missing the PSU, case, hard drives, optical drives, and any other accessories. _________________

The 4870 is amazing. All my friends are telling me to get it. Although the 4890 is out, the 4870 is still $150. I'm in Canada btw, so it might be different.
Im certain that buying a 650-700 watt PSU would be good enough? Everything takes a lot of power, especially the Video Card.
For Case, im planning to get a Cooler Master.
Hard drive, 1TB Sata 2.
And yeh.... |

I'm not very sure if its even worth it.
Every review I read, every one is saying that the 250 OC is better than the 4890.

Look at 9800GTX+ benchmarks if you want to hear about the GTS 250. Same card, different sticker. The GTS 250 performs worse than even an HD4870; comparing an unoverclocked card to an overclocked card is anything but fair. Besides, the HD4870's a great overclocker.
Still, I'd wait a little while until the HD5000/R800 line is released in a week or two. Even if you don't get an R800 card, there'll probably be price drops with the HD4800 line. _________________

How much of an estimate do you think the R800/5000 will be LOL? Sounds nice and i have seen the announcements everywhere.
Edit: the 5870x2 ($599), 5870 ($399), and 5850 ($299) Thats so awsome!!! and cheapish LOL |
