Well first I tried to connect with an ethernet cord and it says "Limited or No Connectivity" then when that goes away my computer freezes and I have to restart...Internet works fine with the wireless USB adapter which I have been using for years so I'm guessing something needs updating...

On 192.168.1.1 I cant see My Network it just says Scanning Network.... and never does anything. <-- Is probably just something stupid

Also, would using an ethernet cord improve connection at all? The modem is right next to the computer anyway but my friend says it would be faster if I used a cord, seems logical.

The wireless is much easier, trust me. saves a LOT of trouble.

You can always find it on ebay for cheap, too.
