Can I upgrade a laptop processor , if my motherboard will let me ?

This is my processor and since my dad won't let me build a CPU or a laptop because he thinks that I can't manage to build one , he would probally let me upgrade a laptop lol. If I Just replaced my AMD turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology TL-18 processor with a new one , how could I check for another processor that will be compatiable with my motherboard? My Motherboard is a Quanta 30 CF.

Check the socket. Chances are that laptop CPUs are not interchangeable due to its small size. It might even be soldered onto the mobo.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_S1

Technically the best you can get for Socket S1 is Turion 64 X2 TL-68. It is however a little risky since the watts are different.

I'm not a real expert at this.
