How do I cheat?

wells this is a problem im having .... its probably really easy to solve ... im just not doing somthing right ... would be great to get an answer !? : P
so im playing final fantasy 9 and im using cheat engine to hack money and stuffs > so i can get like 999999 gill (money - gold) but when i try to find things like potions or armor i cant find them > like i type in > lets say i have 98 potions and i type in first search 98 > then i use 3 of them to heal mysef so now i have 95 then i go type in 95 then do next search but nothing comes up .... this happens in alot of games and i have no clue what to do i kno im missing somthing small : ( plz help me ! > if u want u can send your answer to my e-mail > jonathanray6@hotmail. com > thank you so much in advance !!! : D

use one potion at a time cause you arent really going from 98-95...
that would be my guess cause the real value goes from 98-98-96-95, but idk much about CE only the basics

---- i tried that .... i went from 98 to 97 ... it found a bunch of 98's but when i went to next search (for the 97) it found nothing : ( !!

possible what your seeing isnt the value or it is a float.
so now you need to try unknown scans and increased or decreased.

----- i tried setting my potions to 95 then doing a fist scan then using one then using decreased value as next scan and still found nothing i even tried using more then one potion .... and i have no clue how to use unknown value.

wow you are all noobs....
Dude if your using ce the potions are in 1byte and the stats are in 1byte cash is in 4byte i belive
hp is in 2bytes in all games stats are mainly in 1byte
1byte=255
2byte=60000
4byte=4500000
Not hard...also next time please check for game save files and use hex shop to find adresses in the games...
i belive i still have the adresses for most of the ps1 games
i will add u on msn but only to catch you off gaurd and show u my junk on webcam is that ok with u?
