hey, i ve been thinking about stuffs and so on, and well actually in games its all about packets,
so by editing packets you can controll all the things, but i was wondering if packet editing is really necesarry?
i mean you can have the same result by just editing your own client, so the client itself would send the right packets to the server?
for example, in a game A you can use an item I, but in fact you dont have that item I...
so you could just send the packet manually to the server, telling it you have the item I
OR
you edit your client game, so that you have the item (clientside), but when the client sends its packets to the server, those packets are telling that you have the item I...
so all you need to do actually is editing your client..
i really like thinking about stuffs and learning to know how its going on and i m really wondering if my guessing is right

When you edit your client, you client will send the packet which is different from the server, it'll either cause you to desync/disconnect or what you see is just client-sided meaning you won't be able to use it.

sure you can just edit the client instead of packet editing.
Packet editing is actually just editing the client as well, it places a hook at the send and receive api's and then edits what it send at that point.
But there's nothing against editing it deeper inside the client. E.g you can add in a new button in the client and when pressed it initiates the routine to use item x. Consequentially it'll then also send the packet to the server that you're going to use item x
Of course, if the server checks if you have item x and then blocks you it won't help, but as for the reason why packet editing is the only useful thing, that's just bogus. Might be easier, but not the only thing.
