Even though the Xeon 3000 series are basically the same as their 775 desktop counter parts, but not all boards will support it since their micro code is different.
You'll need to double check and see if the boards you have will support a Xeon.

The X3220 and Q6600 are both exactly the same chip where as the X3320 is a Q6600 with a rebadged name. They also can stand more heat thus the 85C on their TDP as compared to 71C on the Q6600.
More tolerance to heat=more head room for overclocking.
