So, you may have realized I was gone for the maple patch, and gone from Wednesday to Sunday because I had a robotics competiton.
Even if I am in 8th grade, I still had "special priviledges" to go.

How this Robotics game is played:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pW0eCFPDoxc

What I did for my team:
Since I was in 8th grade and had barely any knowledge, I was chosen to scout other teams, so if you might have seen an Asian guy with a gray T-shirt, it was me, considering how I'm the only Asian guy on my team.

What I liked about my job:
I would basically take notes on what the other robots did, and what we would want for our alliance for the final match. I also went in the stadium to see how other robots perform, to see how much balls they scored and how much got into trainer, robot speed, etc. I found out that most points came from the human shooters, not really the robots.

I liked, no actually loved how the stadium was. It was fun to watch the other robots compete with each other, and when our robot came, our group was slapping those yellow slapping things like crazy, it was very loud. Of course I had to scout on my own robot though, but it was awesome.

Also, instead of playing crappy music in the background, they played awesome techno/rock/pop songs, and there would often be a dance party in the middle of things. So yeah, I loved, and still love that place.

What I did during the vacation:
I had major fun, because I didn't even think about the computer. First, I would take the charter bus to Portland, Oregon and we arrived. When the competition started, I worked on the robot a little bit, but I scouted a lot. After I was done taking pictures, here came the fun part.

I went into the stadium and basically did what other judges do, so I can see which robots are good and which ones suck. In the stadium, we would have the robots compete each other, while playing an awesome music in the background (lol) and see occasional dance parties. After the pits close and it will resume the next day, our team would go out and go to the mall (which isn't very far) to eat dinner and see lots of stuff there. The next 2 days, I did the same thing, and I was never tired of it. It was one of those things I would never get used to and keep enjoying.

Also, another good part is that there is this Seattle team that came, and there were hot asian girls, but too bad I couldn't really meet them.

Our team's results:
Ok, so when the qualification matches ended, we were at about 20th place, but our robot was on the very high quality side. It's just that the other robots on our team well... sucked, causing a massive downturn on our rankings.

So, after the qualification matches, the top 8th finishers were choosing their alliances, and the 3rd one (Their team name is revolution since their number is 360) chose our team, so we were proud of our team. Our alliance however, lost at the quarter-finals, which really sucked. However, not all of our functions were working, so I say we did very good to make it into the finals.

After I did all of this, we still got an award at the awards ceremony. It was called the "Motorola quality award" or something like that. I high-fived the judges and the MC and a bunch of other members that stuck out their hands. That boosted my feelings more after losing that finals.

P.S. I will post videos as soon as they upload them to youtube.

Yes, it was soo fun that I didn't even think about the computer.
Usually, after trips, it's good to be back home, but now, it sucks to be back home.

And you consider yourself cool? I guess they do fight in some way..., they bump into each other and try to score balls on each other.
Anyways, you are the real sucker here because you have a high expectations on standards and that means less things make you happy.

Well this is the only time that it sucks. I mean usually, I go on trips, and it's great to be back home, but in this trip, I liked it a lot, and I want to go back, but then that won't happen.

P.S., I think I have a problem. I didn't even miss my parents...

Most 8th graders will have no idea what they want to do in life.
For you to actually find something you love to do is amazing.

Going to pursue in a field of robotics when you get older?

Can't wait to see the videos!

The videos aren't uploaded by them yet, but I'll show.
Well I don't know if i'm gonna keep with engineering, but man, that competition was awesome until the end. I'm just depressed right now that I am back at the place that I really hate.

I loved Portland a little too much...
