Hi, I'm buying a gaming laptop.

Right now I'm looking at Toshiba Qosmio X305 ($1399), Alienware 51 m17-x ($1499) and XPS M1730 ($????), Gateway P-7811FX ($1449)

Which would you reccomend? Maybe some others?

#Edit: After reading a few reviews on the interweb it comes clear that the P-7811FX and Alienware 51 m17-x are propably the best solutions. Obviously P-7811 doesn't have those fancy fingerprint scanners and blueray drives like Alienware, but does anyone have comprehensive benchmarks? Which one gets higher fps?

You'd get way more bang for your buck, so to speak, if you were to build a desktop computer instead and, if you really need a laptop, get a netbook like an Eee pc or something. Gaming laptops fail in so many ways.

EDIT:
If you're open to suggestions, you could try something like this:
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=9984772

It includes a kick-ass gaming PC (with a monitor, that, if you don't need, could be removed allowing you to switch the 4850 for a 4870, the 3GB of ram for 6GB and the 500GB HDD for a 1TB HDD) and a netbook.

Zarr just said everything I would have.
Laptops just aren't so great for gaming, both hardware-wise and interface-wise.

If money is not a matter then I say this will be your first choice.

specs:
CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 @ 2.8GHz
RAM:6GB DDR2
CHIPSET: Intel X38
HDD: 320GB HDD
VGA: Ati Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 (1GB)
OS: Vista HP 64bit

That machine did score over 20,000 on 3DMK 06

Almost right there.
The correct gHz was 3,9 GHz.

I wouldn't say this is so much a laptop tho.
The weight is 5kg.

But its the best shit you can get, atleast.

Thanks for the info's. I already have a very powerfull desktop PC, usually used for 3d rendering. The reason I wanted a gaming laptop is because I could use it for both rendering on the way and gaming, which could be of some use to me. Weight doesn't really matter, as long as it fits in a backpack Razz

If you could pay that much, its would be the best.
But its $500 over your budget.

And it comes with an bag that it fits into.

Save up $500 and get it a few months later. It's definitely worth it though. 4870X2 in a laptop is just hot.

I'm guessing you haven't been on a computer for a while...
ATI has been doing great recently....

Is the GTX295 alot better then 4870x2? or just a lil bit?
