Okay, now it actually works. The problem is the volume is EXTREMELY low, even though it's maxed out. I literally have to scream bloody murder into my microphone, or flick it in order to record sound.
Help?

Make sure you are changing the RECORDING microphone settings, and not the PLAYBACK one, and check microphone boost.
If that fails, try reversing the connection, and talking into your headphones heh

| if you've been doing everythign right, then its quite possible thats its simply your mic being too quiet. if you're using vent, you can turn up your outbound, but for anything else, i'd reccoment getting a better mic.

The actually Microphone jack/slot/port thingo was broken...
Possibility that it isn't receiveing a full connection with the microphone plug

| Yeah, the jacks of a computer I had a while ago were broken when something was in them and they were bent. I had to replace the part (laptop).

Computer doesn't even recognize I have a mic.. so I guess it is the jack.
Really effing stupid since I just built this a couple days ago.
And it's not my headset, it works on my other computers.

Is there another input jack you can try? (If you have one on the case, maybe?)
That would be a step towards seeing whether it's a software or hardware misconfiguration/malfunction or just the headset.

Nope. There's only one jack in the back.
And it's not my headset.
