Thank you for activating my account Dark Byte.

I keep trying to figure out how to create key bindings in aliens vs predator 1 gold edition. I can always make a binding, then find the text and change it to something else and the thing I changed it to will always work, but I swear it's impossible to find the exact pointer. Almost everything that involves a pointer with this game so far has just been 1 pointer to an address. With this, I got really irritated and did a pointer scan for up to 60 levels of pointers, and that still wasn't enough, but my computer can't seem to go any higher. It would be pointless to go any higher anyway, I'd die of old age before it was done searching. I did check everything up to 5 pointers, then quit the game and restarted so the address changed. Then I rescanned the pointers and I always end up with 0 results.

Key bindings must be handled in a very different way for games? I wanted to bind the bot spawn commands to keys, there used to be an old trainer around made by a long gone company (or group?) called bugmakers that claimed to have all the bot commands bound to the F keys (F1-F12). I honestly don't know how they pulled that one off, and the trainer is gone from the internet now. I don't even know how you'd search for the code to make a bot spawn, it's just an instantaneous spawn. If I did search for changes the game would probably just realize a new thing is on the level that wasn't there before, but that wouldn't find the bot spawn command. I also did text searches for bot spawn commands like ALIENBOT and MARINEBOT and got a few green results. The results don't seem useful in any obvious way to me though. If I change the green ALIENBOTs to MARINEBOT, it has no effect on me spawning the bots so I'd assume those few results are completely worthless.

I may have missed something simple though? When I found the pointer for marine armor I subtracted 2 from the address and made it a 4 byte code, and it didn't work because of that for some reason. Then I just added the 2 back to the address and made it into a 2 byte code and it worked. I don't know why that seemed to screw up the code, but maybe something simple like that has messed everything up. But the text for all key binds has been at 0??????0 or 0??????8, and I made it the correct text length. I should probably make a fake 2 letter thing like "Qg" and bind it to a key and check for pointers that way and freeze it as a 2 byte code? Maybe that's somehow messing everything up?

I've also noticed that the option to "Try to find base pointer" never does anything. In version 5.4 that just always gave me an error, and now it still does. How does that work exactly?

Anybody have any great insight on how to bind bot spawn commands to keys through cheat engine? Maybe it's a royal pain just like this in every game for all I know.
