Cheat Engine

im trying to trace down to a static base pointer.

so, i started with finding the value, debugging to find what writes to it. the line was like [edx+14]. so I search for the address and create a pointer. then i search for accesses that pointer to trace deeper. here is an example of what i got:

Probable base pointer =2DC8B0E8

2a0de84f - cmp edx,[eax+08]
2a0de852 - jae 2a0de870
2a0de858 - mov eax,[eax+edx*4+0c]
2a0de85c - mov esp,ebp
2a0de85e - pop ebp

but now i dont know what to put because eax (the value of the pointer) is being written to by an offset of eax.

I tried to use the address containing 2DC8B0E8 and then for the offset I use 20 (0x5 x 0x4 + 0xc) but that doesn't give me the right pointer value.

how would i reference this pointer correctly in Cheat Engine?

Well, you would get more help in the Cheat Engine section.

I bet a mod will move it.
