| Yes... It needs to be in your bios settings though... Check them...

That isn't what he is asking. He is asking if he can write over his Flash Drive's MBR to boot into an ISO and emulate a disk.
What you're saying is justing booting into the USB, which I'm sure he knows he can do because he wants to know if he can do it with images or the dump of an image on his USB.

Yeah, it's all do-able.
Are you looking to install the operating system from USB or run a live version of an operating system from it (as many linux distros offer)?
Just do a quick google for whatever you need to find and I'm sure tutorials will come up on the first few hits.

Yeah, Slax is a good choice for a Live OS since for the space it takes up, it's got great hardware support and functionality. DSL is small, but compatibility is often an issue when it comes to using it. And distros like Ubuntu are simply so large and packed with unneeded extras (for a live operating system), I would never use it without installing it.

What OS? All it takes is a google search, everyone makes tutorials for things like that.

UNetbootin is an extremely good program for creating a bootable USB. I use it all the time so I can boot into different linux distros on my EEE PC since I don't have an external CD/DVD.
