I'm buying Arctic Silver 5 in a few days and anyways , theres two products called :
| Code: | Arctic Silver 5 Premium Silver Polysynthetic Thermal Compound 3.5 Gram Tube
Item # 3820817
Arctic Silver: "5" New Premium Silver Polysynthetic Thermal Compound 12 Gram Tube
Item # 3820827 |

| I don't have advice on the cooling pad, since I only own two of the same kind, so nothing to compare to, but as for the Arctic Silver thermal paste, do it right and you should be fine for the life of the computer... The stuff lasts so long now it's ridiculous.

| It won't really matter about the cooling pad because computers will be the same without the cooling pad. But if you want one or just want to keep the temperature down then sure get one.

Some laptops do tend to get hot (ie. Inspiron 9100 notebook, which was made with PC components/processor), and it helps out quite a bit.

Buy the smaller one, you don't need such a large amount.
So long as you can take the heatsink out of the case and off the CPU, you can reapply thermal paste, just remove whatever was on with rubbing alcohol.
If you really don't know what you're doing, don't even bother with it. Don't rely on people to walk you through every little thing you want to do. It's not that big of a deal unless the laptop is years old and the OEM's thermal compound is cracked and dried up.

I have a 4.5g syringe of silver compound and I've seated 4 heatsinks with it , there's still over half the tube left.
