Okay so a bunch of you are haters and shit and are athiests. But don't you thin religion is actually saving the world? Like all of the top 10 causes of death are through stupidity and the people who cause those deathes usually don't follow religion. Religion (islamic beliefs as far as I know, I think christianity beliefs to) also tell you not to do these things, yet the people who do them are the ones causing death / dying.

I have a feeling that this is going to turn out to be an argument, because the people that come here are so diverse in terms of religion and culture. People can claim to follow and practice a religion, but not abide to all of the religion's rules or restrictions. So, religion is intended to guide you to the right path, not walk you through it. That is a way to show faith of your religion to God (Allah).

Also, don't put down other people's beliefs...

Religion does not equal morals. I know plenty of religious people that are terrible people.

Religion is the main reason behind all the conflict going on in the middle east right now.

I beg to differ. Religion is the source to many problems in the world. Look at the middle east. They fucking want to kill each other because of religion. In Iraq the country has been reduced to Shia vs Sunni. In Ireland, *less than 10 years ago* the troubles killed thousands of people just because of differences in Catholicism and Protestant. In America, Neo-Naizs use the bible to justify their racist white supremacy beliefs. Also pissed off christains bomb abortion clinets.

Oh, I see. Thanks for telling me about that. But, just a few people doing things like that who call themselves believers of a religion cannot represent all of the followers of that religion; but the media or whatnot uses these things to stereotype religions (Like Islam=Terrorism).

Religion is a great thing, sometimes. It puts morality into a black and white context for those who are unable to realize that morality is a gray area with no supreme judge to issue some kind of standardized code of it around the world.

It also helps people cope. With death. With stress. With questions.

Religion is only great there.

Then come the fucking wars and stupidity that clergymen start. They use the Bible to preach things that are not even mentioned in the bible [things like Abortion, homosexuality and other shit.]. If any one of you are serious about your religion, read your fucking texts. You'll be surprised how much shit your local douchebag is making up.

TL;DR?
Good- Helps people cope with issues and have some more complicated ideas placed into a very simple context.
Bad- Wars, propaganda and the anal rape of young boys.

I'm an atheist. I do not reject your god, I am just standing on the default position. The default position should not be theist. At such a young age you are forced to think about things you've yet to give 3 fucks about. When you're a little older, decide.

Religion doesn't start wars, God does.

Religion is supposed to spread morality. The bible and other holy books teaches people goodwill and keeps people in order. However, some idiot took it too far and made up the whole "God" crap. God is what started all the bad things that are associated with religion.

Religious wars happen because people believe God granted their people a certain area of land. They fight because they believe it's God's will. If the belief of God was not in any religion, there would not be any religious wars.

God is also what causes religion to be looked down upon. Seriously, now, anybody who believe that "an invisible man will set you on fire if you do bad things" is, to say the least, an idiot. The concept of God is what causes religious people to seem ignorant and retarded.
