|
|
I am booting into my USB linux (thank god I have it) and unable to get into windows.
I can access it with safe mode, meaning the problem is less major, but I can't browse the web. I love my precious windows and want this to be fixed.
Before this occured, my anti virus was going off the hook about a trojan (ESET NOD32)
Could this maybe be leading to it?

you don't need to be able to access windows to format, you boot off a windows disc on boot. if you're wanting to do that, make sure your BIOS is set so that your CD/DVD drive is 1st priority in the boot order. can't help anymore, going away for a week, just putting shit on my ipod atm. cyas. xD

I have no BIOS
at startup, it says the BIOS is not installed.
And system restore while in safe mode did the trick.
I got my precious back
Lock it now

If you had no bios then you can't get into Windows as Humper said. The only scenario close to this is the fact you are using a Mac.

I've considered that what's installed is a minimalistic BIOS that will only start the computer to the bootloader, perhaps a more conventional BIOS is available through some sort of update.

It probebly got a normal bios, he don't know what he's talking about.
Also my ASUS EEE, got fastboot, which skips the bios load and loads up alot faster that way.

Probably the extras needed to load up a manageable setup menus don't exist, but a BIOS is present, since you can boot.

Open Firmware is effectively the BIOS for a Mac.
