Linux booting is as simple as it gets. Look up a guide for Backtrack 2 or 3. |

i've always wondered with cracking weps under linux, are you able to use any wireless card/dong that can connect to the internet in the linux OS to crack weps with? or is there still only a certain amount and specialised drivers for those few? _________________

I don't know that you can use ANY card, but wireless support has certainly been increased over the last few years. Most popular card chipsets are supported now. Try a Ubuntu Live disk to check if yours is, or find a list somewhere. |

Not long at all as long as you read it right.
Also, have you used it once you got it read. |

Worth giving it a shot! A number of tutorials for Ubuntu/Aircrack-ng out there, I think. |

Lol.
Code: | I didn't follow the old threads very much, but unless I'm not remembering correctly, it would have been changing the files while the process was running.
Just a quick concept note. Find differences between original files and files with only one variable mass-edited. I don't know what language you'd want to look in, but find some way to make lists of how the files are different at each offset they differ. (Confusing to write out, I'm sure you follow me.) I was thinking that could be done for a number of edits (Say, for a smallish .wz file at first).
Bring it all together with a GUI with checkboxes for each of the edits and some sort of 'Save To...' function. Each box checked, the list is gone through and at each offset with a different value from the original (already predetermined in the lists) it changes the value to the desired one.
I can think of a number of functions off the top of my head that might be useful here, maybe one to replace active file with original, to start over.
Just a half-baked idea I had. Don't know if you're still pursuing programming or not, might be a good challenge. |
