The Depression & You

  • This is serious, avoid stupidity
  • Stay on-topic during post
  • Please read carefully

This thread was mainly started, for the discussion of The Depression & You.

I'd like to know your experiences, and difficulties with the new depression in place. Not only would I like to know just your response, I'd like to know what the world has to say. Please post articles on what the depression has caused, or post about your response toward The Depression. I want to know everything your thinking, so think hard. I do not know the official date for the start of The Depression, so if you know it, please post it. But I do know, that this was not just Bush's fault. Not only are company's responding, so are we. I also know, The Depression has not only affected our moods, but our actions.

The Depression & Me? The Depression has finally reached me, and It hit me as hard as possible. My family was actually doing decent, until The Depression, making a decent wager and such more. Tonight, my dad tried to explain to me, what was going on now with his company. My dad works for American Seafood's, he's the Captain of a boat. Not only did I not understand anything he was talking about, I was extremely surprised on how serious he was. He was called tonight, for a meeting tomorrow morning. He tells me there's a serious chance of his boat being shut down, and our finances falling apart. Not only will we he lose money, he might have to work for a new boat. 30 years my dad has worked for that boat, and its about to all be thrown away by The Depression. He's going to have to restart, and my dads getting old. He won't be able to keep up with this, eventually, we'll fall.

Edit: I was expecting a fall, but I guess I was wrong. We did fall, everyone on my dads boat. 128 People are now jobless, not including my dad and 7 other workers. Those 128 people are now jobless, and probably will be for quite some time. My dad is now working on a different ship, but won't be making nearly as much. My dad has worked with his crew for 23 years, and it's hard enough for him to say goodbye to all of them, but to see the results they'll have.

Now tell me your story...

Cheatengine forum, specifically the Maplestory section, is full of incredibly stupid/annoying noobs. I try to help them out to the best of my ability, but it does nothing for the ones who are new and don't read. Every day there is more, every day they get worse. And because of this, I think of suicide on a consistent basis.

Depression has reached most of the banks here, although it hasn't affected me, but my parents. But they never tell me anything.

Pulled out most of my $$ from the market, same with my parents. No real issues job wise for any of us.

I am currently basking in the glory of 1.70 gas.

UPDATE:
Saw gas for 1.52 today.

About a year or two ago ( 2 years maybe? ), my family moved out of a huge house. This was almost right on the edge of when the houses plummeted down... We sold it for 655,000 USD (bought for 250,000 USD ) and if we waited till around this time now... I don't even think we could sell it for how much we bought it for!

We moved into a very tiny house, though we don't need space anyway.

It has not started to affect me in a way i have not already been affected by poverty.

Nor has it affected anyone around me since i live in a VERY rich community ( i used to be privileged until my father decided to leave and take 500 grand with him ).

It is getting hard to buy groceries, though it really has never been easy.

I'm happy gas fell in prices...

I feel bad for the idiots who invested.

But don't worry... Come summer the prices will be back to 4.00 USD.

I have more money in my pocket thanks to low gas prices, and sales everywhere.

My dad is getting a $20,000 Christmas bonus this year, so his company obviously isn't hurting.

This depression has only affected us positively. Hax?
