Can't get my PS3 to run PS2 games(my old PS2 broke  )do I need to update it or something
P.S.What is an ethernet cable and where can i find one?

It depends on how much Gig's you have on your PS3.
Only 80 gig PS3's can play ps2 game's.

Ig its a 60Gig- It wont run them, YOu need to either flash it, Or Go fi nd the update.

i have 60GB ps3 and meh PS3 id is KILLER_OF_U44 (just so u know) and the only ps2 game that stopped working for me is Jak2

I have 60 GB ps3, and i had the same problem.
According the the "old" and "new" versions, the recent bought ps3's don't work on ps2 games.

| Just to clear things up, the 40GB/80GB models use software emulation, so less game support. The older 20GB/60GB models use the EE hardware chip for emulation, so there's better support.

OMG SO MUCH USELESS SPAM!!
It depends on your model. Not "How many Gigs you have" The New 80 GB versions for $400 is NOT BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE!
If you bought the Motorstorm/MGS4 bundle, then that has 50% backward compatiblity.
If you bought the 60GB PS3 at launch, that has like a 95% playback compatiblity.
Tell me this:
Price of your PS3 when bought,
when you bought it,
if anything came with it
and how many gigs it has

software emulation is pretty easy damn accurate, and fast when the hardware is yours. 
I remember reading it got overhauled at one point, support is probably much higher now than it was at launch.
