is there a headphone jack/socket in your speakers? there usually is and that would stop the speakers from making a sound.

| That's a weird question you've got there. Are the speakers in-built?

| I dunnoes about hardware problems, or settings. But i think you could bypass this temporarily by muting the speakers volume and keeping the headphones volume on. This is in Sound Settings.

For a notebook when you plug in your headphones the speaker should automatically be muted.
Check your sound card software settings or reinstall your sound card driver by downloading it on your laptop's website.

have you tried using different headphones? some don't fit well in the socket and if they're not fully pushed in you'll hear sound from both the speakers and headphones. make sure it's pushed in hard and test to see that both left and right of the headphones work when you're hearing sound from the computer and headphones. this has kinda happened to me on a desktop before because my brother was too scared to push it in hard enough.

| Go to your laptop's website, enter their support page, select your model, OS and then download your audio driver.

Try turning off your speakers.
