|
|
Hello, my video card is recently experiencing an issue in which the screen starts to blur and many blocks and colored lines occur. This even occur during the startup screen. It seems like a corrupt video card problem, but I have experienced this problem 3 times already. I'm sure it is not a monitor problem, because I am now using the integrated graphic card and it works fine. A while ago, this happened, and it got fixed by itself within a few days. Now it seems like it will not go away.
I am using Radeon 9250 PCI 256mb
OS: XP S3
Here is a picture of the screen.

Any help is appreciated.

I would normally say that looks to be an overheating issue, however, I can't imagine that card ever getting too warm. Its not overly powerful by any means (no offence intended). Have you overclocked the card at all? Try updating graphics and chipset drivers for the PC. Theres always the chance its a driver issue.

I have not overclocked, and have update my graphic and chipset to the most recent driver.

| I would say check the temps of that card, but I don't even think it has a thermal sensor. Maybe something you can checkout yourself... most GPU's are extremely tolerant of high temperatures, and they are rated to work at above 100 degrees C, although not without artifacts and freezes though. This might be the motherboard itself, or more specifically some issue with the actual slot on the board. Re-seat the card. Make sure the contacts are clean and blow out any dust around that area.

Its a good point. I once fried an old Geforce4 by overclocking the VRAM, and thats exactly the symptoms it gave before dying
Slovach's right, if you get it before windows even starts up, then you can be sure its hardware, as no drivers/software have loaded yet.
