ok i use vba to open fire embelm, then i can find and set the gold. thus its hackable, but for the life of me i cant seem to hack my charcahters stats, such as hit points are defense, agility etc etc, if anyone wants to help me contact me thru email its [email protected], ill send u the emulator plus the game and yes its virus free i checked, so if anyone wants to help me out and make the "sucky" characters much better let me know. thanks for your support guys

just do a 1 byte search in decimal. the first value will be max hp followed by the other 6 stats you mentioned. I tried it with vba also just to check if the reason you were having trouble. I've had issues where vba won't change the value but CE will. Anyway - the first character (lyn) in my version of the rom (E) version-values start at 0202BD62. I just memory browsed and entered the values i wanted. Keep them low the game will keep low after you level anyway.

Also vba has save states. making it even easier to switch and scan for changes. That might be what the previous person was trying to say. You don't really need CE for this.

Anyway, I saw your post and it made me curious since it's been posted a while and you still didn't get a clear answer.
