| Get a Core 2 Duo for gaming, unless you're going to be doing lots of multi-tasking, just get a Quad then ... & then just overclock that to 3GHz or higher.

AMD vs Intel?
Intel core2s are better than AMDx3s.
the x3s are just faulty phenoms with a core disabled because it either doesn't function properly or it doesn't function at all.
wait a bit and see if the i7s are good if you're planning on buying now

From various places on the web, AMD X3 are indeed defective quad cores.
This is the fault with AMD's design where they keep on boasting its "true" quad core while Intel uses 2 dual cores and slapped them together to make a quad. Since all cores are built into a single die, when one core fails then the whole cpu is useless. Luckly they're able to find a solution and make it work or else think of all the money that had gone into waste.

The price of the i7 cannot be exactly stated. It is similar to asking "What is the price of a core 2?" One could be refering to a range of products, Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, Q6600, Q9540...
Their is probably a VERY BIG range, starting at the lowest ( low-end dual core i7 ) to the highest ( high-end oct-core i7 ).
There will be dual core i7, quad core i7, and oct-core i7.

Deneb? I hear it's supposed to average about 20% better than current AMD's. If it's priced right it might make a good budget quad.
Though I've heard AMD may have a kick ass CPU and aren't playing it up so Intel won't retaliate, probably just a rumor but it'd be nice to have some competition.
