What do the acronyms mean?

So far i decoded this:

1/2 SCH 40 ( .840 Outer Diameter x .109 Width )

Pipes ey?

SCH = Schedule

"The "Schedule" designation tells you how thick the wall is for any size of pipe with the higher schedule numbers meaning a thicker wall."

And the 1/2 is NPS (Nominal Pipe Size)

So the pipe would be: 1/2in thick 40 ???? .84 inch Outer Diameter ( includes the thickness? ) .109 inch width ( <--- Cylinders have width? Since when!? ) I really dont understand these dimensions. _________________ http://www.di.fm/wma/hardcore.asxdd

I really dont understand these dimensions.

But I know those are the dimensions for a pipe.. go to wikipedia..
Search for "Nominal Pipe Size"
