It's seems that this word is getting more and more overused by the mainstream media. Yesterday, I opened my TV so there would be noise in the living room (I don't like silence that much) and I heard how Olympic medalist are now considered "heroes". What the fuck, they aren't heroes, if we take it to the extreme then maybe Phelps is a legend, but nothing close to a hero.
Same goes to soldiers. They are brave, courageous, strong, etc I'll give them that. Don't get me wrong, some of them are, they saved their comrades, civilians and what not, but not all of them. Funny thing is that you only hear about these supposed heroes when they die. A "fallen hero" is what they say. This is fucking bullshit, it pisses me off. =)
Anyone agrees, or am I crazy?

I totally understand you man, I hope those who have brain washed these peoples mind and those that are would die. like u hear about celebs and politicians and "back home, they are major heroes" WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SHIT!!!!???? so that means they are heroes everywhere but especially in there own towns. fuck that shit, those who mistakenly called "heroes" needs to die

| Olympians are not considered heroes, but soldiers are.. They risk their lives to make our lives better. Most of you guys wouldn't be enjoying life right now, if it weren't for the soldiers of your country. Without those heroes, we would be a complete "Aryan race" with no multiculturalism. <Speaking directly from the past to present, all soldiers are considered heroes>

It's on an individual's point of view, if person A sees that he or she is save by person B, that person B will be called a hero by that person A. If person C sees his or her parents a hero because person C's parents do everything just make person C eat 3 times a day he or she will call the parents a hero.
It's not normal to call a person a hero, but it is normal when that person did something that will make you proud or make you gain something.
