People killed the meaning... lol is just a response now and then people came up wit LOL'd to show that their really lol'd. but now THAT is just a response too... =P

Thankfully I don't use MSN any more. If I don't know what to say to someone I usually say lol to make them shut up or wat to confuse them.

yeah, i do the same thing. Like I say What? Who? and then they shut up.

Many words get thrown arround nowadays.
That's how languages evolve.
Lulz is another example of a bastardisation of lol.
Lulz has become a noun, and has nearly no strings with the original l.o.l.
