I've had torrents go up to 3 MB p/s.

But most torrents go much slower due to the lack of seeders. That's why I simply can not understand why torrents are so popular... I would much rather download from megaupload or a similar service where the file is hosted on a business server with a dedicated fiber optic connection. That way the download speed is always a certain rate, even if it's some really old game that you are probably the only one downloading.
