I want a computer that can play most rpg's at high or highest settings and still run smoothly. I want some multitasking abilities but not a lot. So yah... suggest away.

Depending on what resolution you're expecting to play and what game you're playing (I'm using Mass Effect as the benchmark - which has oddly enough, has similar, if not steeper minimum requirements than Crysis), you'll need something like an 8800GT and a fast dual core or mainstream quad core. It should total from $600-$1000.

I was just pointing out that the minimum system requirements for Mass Effect were steeper than the requirements for Crysis.

Oh, those kinds of games. It shouldn't require much to run, I guess $400 at the most. I imagine something like a Pentium 4/AMD Athlon 64, 1GB of RAM, and a low/mid end X1xxx series graphics card/similar GeForce 6 and GeForce 7 series cards.

Nice build, it should all fit together and work well. You might want to get the EG31, some of the reviews state that the problems in the G31-S2L are not in the EG31 version. It's a few dollars cheaper too.

You might have a power issue, the power supply itself and the wattage it outputs. You should be fine though with 300W though, just a bit close.

Most likely 800-900 dollars for a laptop, 1000-1200 for a computer.

Notice minimum requirements. I saw that the recommended system requirements were quite a bit lower than Crysis, so obviously it would run smoother than Crysis.

You still need an optical drive.

That 500$ pc build looks pretty nice although i dont think id need an 8800gx for my needs... nor would i want that processor becuase i have no need to overclock. The cpu cooler could be nice just for assurity that my small investment will last.

for example the most graphic intensive game i play is:

Minimum Requirements

Recommended Requirements
CPU

Pentium 4 2.0 GHz \ AMD Athlon XP 2000+ or Faster
RAM

512 MB

1GB Or higher
VGA

Geforce FX 5600 \ Radeon HD2 or Equivalent

Geforce 6600 \ Radeon 8500 series or Higher
Pixel Shader 2.0 or Better

With that build you will basically be playing HL2 with lowest settings at 800x600 to be able to get a constant fps of 40-70.

Im not asking for a gaming pc... i dont give a fuck to look cool with the best graphics available all i want to do is play my mmo's without lag... i dont like shooters, nor do i like HL2 (plus i own that game on the 360). Crysis doesnt even look appealing. Ill probably go with the build i came up with, with the mobo suggested from super Very Happy. but i am open to suggestions as long as they are around 400$~
