Cheat Engine

I've been using cheat engine for a couple years... But I finally decided to crack down and use it seriously, so I started with the tutorial naturally...

But I'm on step 3 and there seems to be a problem... It either doesn't return any of the correct values, or returns nothing at all.

The process goes exactly as follows:

Open CE
Open CE Tutorial
Attach CE to CE Tutorial
get to step 3
First scan "unknown initial value" --get about 111,000 addresses.
Click "Hit Me" and see "-3" and the bar goes down a little...

Now I've tried approaching it two different ways now and nothing is working...

First I tried simply Next Scan "decreased value"... either returns a long list or nothing... if it returns about 1,000 addresses I repeat the process and that either turns up a list of 6 or 7 values that are not between 0 and 500 or it returns nothing.

So I start over searching unknown initial value again and this time, Hit me and Next Search by value decreased by 3... (or whatever the value is that hit me showed this time)... Then I get nothing or rarely a few values but again, they aren't the ones...

I've tried uninstalling CE, deleting any remnants of it from my registry, deleting the folders and anything I can find that has to do with it on my computer then doing a fresh reinstall... But the same problem still occurs...

Which makes me think there are some system files that are funked here...

Any help would be appreciated...

[edit] - Forgot to add, no anti-virus applications running or anything of that sort... No programs at all except the tutorial and CE and some system critical processes.

Make sure you run CE as admin.
Also, if you use vista, make sure you use ce 5.4

But besides that, no idea what is going wrong

(When getting a list of 1000, you do click "hit me" and only THEN click next scan right? So don't click next scan when the value hasn't changed)
