| How do I make it so that my C/C++ program doesn't need MSVCRT*.dll? I'm trying to make a commercial application and I don't want the user to be hassled with having to download C runtimes to use my program.

Firstly, if your application is going to be commercial you must pay for the software and not use the Express edition of Visual Studio. If you follow those requirements, you just change the runtime library in the properties:
(Change the project to release mode then do the following:)
Project -> Properties -> Configuration Properties -> C/C++ -> Code Generation -> Runtime Library (Switch this to Multi-Threaded (/MT))

| Do you really need to pay to sell your programs? I thought that was just for things like C# (b/c it is propritory)..... Then again I didn't read T&A like a normally do for that kind of stuff....

Hmm I guess they updated their TOS, I remember reading the you weren't allowed to use the Express editions for commercial use, but apparently you are now.

7. Can I use Express Editions for commercial use?
Yes, there are no licensing restrictions for applications built using Visual Studio Express Editions.
Then again, I read that back when VS2005 first came out.

| OMG! That includes C#?!?! One reason I didn't learn it was because I didn't want to pay b/c it is propritary...... Then again.... I want to be able to use my programs on other operating systems... Thats why I use other compilers mostly.

I recall the same thing, but I suppose that's helpful for some people
(never for me though, I don't think you should be charged for software)
