Average at best.
If you are only going with one GPU, go with a GeForce 8800GT.
Upgrade the CPU to an E8400, or a Q6600.
Upgrade the monitor to 20 or 22"
And downgrade the ram to 2gigs, I have 2 and the most I've ever used with Vista ultimate is around 57-58%

For a laptop, it's rather good. For a high-end laptop ($1500-$2000), it isn't the best choice (not so awesome CPU and graphics card).

Vista Ultimate has too much bloat you won't be using, go with Home Premium if possible.
Downgrade the RAM, you don't need 4gb. Also, if you're using a 32-bit OS (which I'm sure you are), it'll only recongnize ~3.5gb.
Upgrade graphics card.

Since it's an OEM, I would assume they'd ship it with a 64-bit OS so it would take advantage of all the hardware.
But RAM needs are increasing constantly, and it's more difficult and more expensive to upgrade the RAM in a laptop compared to a desktop, so I would just stick with 4GB and be a little more future proof.
