Is it even possible to hack Age of Mythology, like to change the amount of resources you have, and would it work online?

It is definitely possible to hack AOM. Google for "sheep age of mythology" and read the tutorial. It wont work online, however. For it to work online, you have to trace back to the gaia functions.

I mean is it possible to like change your resources with the Cheat Engine?

Yes you can change your resources with any memory scanner in single player.

You may have to do some experimenting with changed/unchanged changed to find it and then debug with assembler.
Last time I played Age of Empires (a long time ago) they just used a basic xor encryption for the resources (AA script I made for it: http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?t=3881 )
