I am going to play Crysis and other shooting games. My budget is only $1000 so can someone choose specs for me but i will change some.
Also, i'm having trouble deciding on getting a duo or a quad. I'll probably be OCing it too.
What OS should i get Vista or XP?

If you plan on running Crysis at its highest / clost to its highest potential (Very unlikely) then you must go with Vista, as Windows XP doesn't support Direct X 10. I have Vista, and the only problems I've encountered were things with my studio.

Crying or Very sad

Although with a budget of only $1000, chances of being able to run smoothly at all on Crysis with DX10 are slim to none.

Might as well go with XP; I'm sure there are DX10 patches for it anyway.

Ill give you my build since i built this computer for around $1000 bucks...

Any CD drive under 30 USD
160gb Hard drive
Intel Quad-Core Q6600
Antec True Power trio 650w or 550w... you decide, i picked the 650w because i have room for expansion
nVidia 780i or 680i... I myself, would pick the 680i cuz im cheap, but if i had enough money i would go for the 780i
2x 1gb Crucial Ballistix
Antec 900 Case
9800GX2.... save up, buy another one! 2x 9800GX2 would play crysis AWESOMELY.

I'd say 2 8800GTX's; there actually isn't much of a difference between the 9800GTX and the 8800GTX. Also, 2 GX2's is basically 4 video cards, and I doubt even Crysis supports that well.

There is no use getting an SLI mobo with your budget, so I'd suggest an Abit IP-35 pro.

I haven't been looking at CPU's lately, so I wouldnt know. I'm running an E8400, clocked to 3.9GhZ solely on air cooling.

The 45nm CPU's don't heat up as much as the 90nm's do. Or maybe it was 60nm, not sure.

He should 'probarbly' decide on his own.

There are DirectX10 patches in XP for most games that support it.
