How do I install stuff (MSN, Java, Shockwave etc.)?

MSN: Top Tool Bar -> Applications -> Internet -> Pidgin
Add Account, MSN/AIM/ etc...

Java, for your web browser or to program in? For your web browser:
Open it. Go to a site that uses Java, click install includes needed. Install it. Done!

Also, try to ween yourself away from Windows programs, since most of them will not work or are very difficult to install on Linux.

But for example: Instead of IE they have FireFox. Instead of command prompt they have terminal. Photoshop, gimp. Windows movie player, movie player.
