I was wondering whether anyone could point me in the right direction?

I want to attempt to learn how to create a multi-client. So I need to know what I have to learn and what I should have to do with that knowledge.

If anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial for creating a multi-client for a MMO. That would be great.

I posted this topic in another section of the forums because I wasn't sure which one I should post it in. Sorry.

Ohh and by the way. The game I am trying to make a multi-client for is "Dream Of Mirror Online" GameTribe's version.

Search the forum for it, it has been posted about heavily before.

"CreateMutex", "CreateEvent"...

You need to patch the client to allow multiple instances, which usually involves opening the file in a debugger and patching at or near those API calls.
The file may be packed though which will present an initial challenge, and also the MP client is not guaranteed to run due to possible file or memory CRC checks or some other protection software that runs alongside the game as a .dll or .sys.

Also google for related stuff to what i've said, i'm sure you'll find what your looking for mate Wink

You got to debug the application setting breaks on the api.
Then try and find whats stopping it from running a second instance.

It's probably packed, so you'd need to unpack it before you'd be able to do anything. When you open it in olly, does it say "This program may be compressed or encrypted" or something like that?

That's small in comparison to most of the games these days. I know of one I downloaded that was 3.6GBs.

And I think it's worth it.

Original executable packed with ASProtect.
Game uses a Launcher, but the original executable will run standalone without the launcher.

So your alternatives are, use 2 machines. Or learn to unpack or get a utility for unpacking ASProtect.
Then your task of patching the executable to do a multiple client is still left to be done.

I tried using that guide to un-pack, but it just generally confused me.

Ehh. Forget it. Too much hasle. I doubt I will ever understand.
