Ok, so I'm building a new computer, maybe rate it/recommend parts. This is a mid-end computer.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
eVGA nForce 650i Ultra
2GB (4x512MB) Super Talent DDR2-667 PC2-5300 (have it)
eVGA GeForce 8800GS 384MB (already purchased)
2x 200GB Maxtor 7200RPM SATA HDDs (have it)
54Mbps TrendNet PCI Wireless Card (have it)
400W Antec EarthWatts PSU (have it)
Antec TriCool Fans (80mm and 120mm) (have it)
Ultra X-Blaster
19" Niko Widescreen LCD Monitor
Dual Layer LightScribe DVD Burner (have it)
Total: $520 before tax
I'm thinking of changing the motherboard to a GA-P35-DS3L, but the price is slightly high. If anyone can find a good price, post a link (that means >$75). _________________

| thats a hell good build, but i would recommend a more powerful PSU, cause those 8800's chew up power like crazy. Other than that i would say that this isnt a mid-end comp, it is probably pushing the boundary of a high-end one. |

Ya, I'd defiantly say that's a low/medium-high end range computer.
Ya. you need a stronger PSU like Uber-1337 said.
Other than that, it looks pretty good.
Though, you might want to eventually upgrade to maybe 3 or 4 gigs of ram |

I know I could use a 500W PSU, but I'll see how far the current PSU can hold. I have an extra $40 to spend, anything you can upgrade? I want to get the P35 motherboard, but I'm hesistating because I think the price is going to drop sometime soon. _________________

Bam's Review
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Good Choice
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Good Choice
eVGA nForce 650i Ultra Terrible choice... Go for the 680i or the 780i... They are MUCHO MUCHO MUCHO better than the low-end last generation...
2GB (4x512MB) Super Talent DDR2-667 PC2-5300 (have it) Okay
eVGA GeForce 8800GS 384MB (already purchased) Terrible choice, AFAIK, 8800GS 384MB is terrible... Like, the worst out of the 8800's...
2x 200GB Maxtor 7200RPM SATA HDDs (have it) Good
54Mbps TrendNet PCI Wireless Card (have it) Good, but im not sure it is needed, or why you want it
400W Antec EarthWatts PSU (have it) I really dont think you need that much more, even though everyone else is saying soo... I would get the Antec trio 650w, this gives you A LOT of room for expansion
Antec TriCool Fans (80mm and 120mm) (have it) <3 Antec
Ultra X-Blaster Cool
19" Niko Widescreen LCD Monitor Meh, i would go for a 22" but w/e
Dual Layer LightScribe DVD Burner (have it) Good _________________

680i is another $100, I don't have that kind of money. My dad just told me some good and bad stuff about this motherboard based off customer reviews. I think I'll try to get a P35 motherboard. And I probably won't use SLi on this rig.
It's better than the G80 8800GTS. I bought it mostly to overclock (up to 35% OC on the RAM, 30% OC on the GPU).
If I got the 22", it would use a native resolution of 1680x1050, where the 9600GT would be a better buy. Also you have count budget issues (my current total for the monitor price is $140). I probably won't get the Niko though. _________________

I'm using a 9600GT currently to drive an LG 22" at that native res.
Works a treat. It'll tear through anything running at that res
Just as a btw lol |
