|
|
There are alot of free hosts out there, i advise getting a strong host such as www.hostsnake.com (300GB Bandwidth and 20GB Storage)
Sign up on hostsnake and do that blah blah blah confirmations
I Found a copy of phpBB , i'd use 2.0.23 or 3.0.0 Gold (both can be found on www.forumw.org)
Download A Copy Of PHPBB And Get FireFTP (firefox users only) or FileZilla
goto www.hostsnake.com and goto the MySQL Managment make a database and a user and assign privileges
get your FTP information for your hostsnake and connect using a ftp client, upload phpBB and this should take 1-2 hours, depending on the version you have
Once Finished rename PHPBB to forums and now we can continue
Now to Installations!
Now We Can Sucessfully install phpBB onto our servers *lots of cheers*
Continue On to Webpage www.yourdomain.hostsnake.com/forums/install/install.php (replace yourdomian with your domain)
There will be a textbox asking you for table prefix, just leave it as phpbb_ and the mysql version is 4.x/5.x
Fill Out The Forms Appropriatley and Click Start Install, It Will Ask You to download a config file, download and ftp upload it to "forums" and then delete contrib and install folders
here is the fun part, goto www.yourdomain.hostsnake.com/forums/ and then sign in, goto the administrator panel and your phpBB is now installed, i am going to capture a video...which screen recorder do you think i should use ?
Finished product with a skin installed manually
.....:::::How to install a skin:::::.....
To Simply Install A Skin, We Need The Files First (Of Course)"
Google Free phpBB styles and click the first link
Download The Skin And Upload The Folder To forums/templates directory
Log onto your forum and goto the administration panel, under Styles Admin Click Add And You Will See the name of your skin, click install and voila goto configuration and click your skins name under templates

phpBB already comes with instructions.
Also, this isn't really a tutorial, this is "Use this host, and this software."

Punch it. Hard. Or hold 'shift' as you type.
