| Boot it in safe mode and figure out what's wrong, if all else fails reformating would be an option. |

Can you remember at all what it said? Could you possibly do a System Restore? And it's highly unrecommended (by me at least) to forcefully shut down/restart your computer. It can cause data corruption. _________________

Uhmmmmmm an educated guess....
Make sure Explorer.exe is running, if not get task manager up and file>run explorer.exe
If this works to an extent then I suggest you navigate to system restore.
Another option would be to try various reg. files to patch it up.
Or a windows repair. Idk. Try everything, lul. _________________

Try saying what it might be then. Simply saying it might be worse is no help at all. _________________

System restore doesn't delete anything. It changes settings back, no files are deleted. You are thinking of a format of the driver, which deletes everything. _________________

Restore does lose files because it restore the machine to a date prior to the files you got after the restore date.
Also this guy cannot do any of this since he cannot get to run or anything.
he has to boot into safe mode as someone already suggested, then looks at the msconfig and see whats starting up in registry.
Then from that move to the startup folder and look there as well.
Run, run services also.
Im positive he has a rouge program. |

Create a restore point now. Download a file. Restore to the point you created. The file is still there. And, if he can get to the run via task manager, he can do a system restore. Type %HOMEDRIVE%\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe into your run box, and it will bring up System Restore. _________________
