Had em both before, which one should i buy? (Gameing causes only) I heard ATI have cards just for gaming causes(somone verify?) But i like NVIDIA controlpanel more than ATI's because its more stable than catalyst.

So yeah... ATI vs NVIDIA.

No, ATI has workstation cards as well, and nothings stopping you from doing anything you could do with an nvidia card. (outside of run Nvidia only apps, which even then you can sometimes do with some trickery)

Both sets of drivers are pretty mature now, I've never actually had the drivers be the cause of any problems. I don't really like the control panel so I just use ATI Tray Tools.

Hardware wise, lets see how the 9x00 series turns out for nvidia.

Doesn't matter.
The thing is
Ultra High End- NVIDIA Wins
High End Price Point - ATI Wins

Since the release of the 9600GT, NVIDIA has now won both the high and ultra high price point. The only exception is the HD3870X2, but the dual-GPU setup only sets it slightly (1-10 FPS) faster than the 8800 Ultra.

So yeah... ATI vs NVIDIA.

ATI is usually cheaper, nVidia is just the dominatory brand

This isn't really true.

Remember the 9700 / 9800 series? Then the x1900 series?

It would nice if nvidia could get it's ass kicked around again, competition keeps the pricing competitive.

Unfortunately, being owned by AMD seems to have hurt ATI's sales.

ATi cards typically give a higher quality picture at the same settings, and are usually better for media usage than nVidia cards as well.

That said, I prefer nVidia's control panel and drivers by far.

Some facts... you use them and decide which one is better:

ATI
------
Drivers suck...
Most of the time cheaper
Most of the time is less than nvidia in performace

Nvidia
----------
Awesome drivers...
Most of the time is more expensive, but there are many times when there REALLY good cards are cheaper!
Almost all the time their cards outperform ATI on the charts...

My personal choice? Nvidia... Since i use Linux, ATI is not even a choice for me Razz

Would i consider buying ATI? Possibly, but that would limit me to only Windows...

Should you get ATI/Nvidia? Its really all up to you...
