Ok, I have CPU-Z, SpeedFan, Everest, and Crystal CPUID on my laptop and I have been trying to figure out a way to modify the CPU so that I can pull some more battery life out of my laptop. I HAVE NOT changed anything on the CPU, but I have been looking at what the CPU is set at and I get this:

What the fuck is going on there?
The CPU that I have is supposed to be at 266MHz X11, and all three of those are giving me different results on what it is set at.
Currently my laptop is plugged into the power brick, so it shouldn't be because of the built in SpeedStep slowing down the CPU due to power restraints.
(EDIT: I jst noticed that I didn't have the right window open on Everest, but what it had said when I was going through it was that it was running at 2.93GHz at X6 with 466MHz FSB.)
According to Intel it should be at 266MHz X11 right?

If you need anything else, just post so, and I'll try to locate what it is that you are asking for.

EDIT:
Now I'm being told this (Note, right now my laptop is on battery power.):

Intel SpeedStep is activated when there is low CPU usage (when you are not running games), to save power. Intel SpeedStep is integrated into Conroe, Kentsfield, Wolfdale, Yorkfield, Merom, and Penryn; all of them except Allendale (E4xxx series). If I remember correctly, that CPU (Intel Core 2 Extreme) has a TDP of 95W, because it is a part intended for heavy overclockers/gamers that run the chip on desktop computers.

I think Everest hasn't perfected SpeedStep yet. I don't really know about Everest, all the other readings are correct.

But then why would I get different results when I have my power input from the brick be different on CPUZ and Crystal CUPID?

You have different results because one is reading the current clock frequency and one is reading the rated clock frequency.

Also, you can't do a whole lot in saving battery life by clocking down the CPU because speedstep already does that automatically.

Okay... Is your problem too much heat or too much power?

Every time I've mentioned my laptop, someone has said "wtf?! it has <insert something here>?!" >.>''

My problem isn't really a problem, its more of a want.
I currently have roughly 60-100 minutes of battery, depending on what I'm doing, and I've been trying to figure out a way to make myself have more battery life.

I thought that I had a heating problem, but after talking here and looking on Intel and nVidia's sites, I've found that the temperatures are in the acceptable ranges.

And capability of having SLI 8800GTX as well.

As well as room for 3 HD's.

>.>"

But still, I'm kinda of disappointed that I can't increase my battery life more.

I guess I have to wait until they make a 12 cell battery that I can replace my optical drive with. XD

(As it stands right now, my discharge rate normally [i.e. normal usage, not heavy gaming] is about 1%:1minute. My recharge rate is roughly 9%:10minutes. My recharge rate I think is pretty damn nice.)

Your computer naturally sucks up tons of power. C2 Extremes eat up tons of power at "similar" clock speeds, the only reason why you should have an Extreme is for the most extreme over clocking (since you have an upwards-unlocked clock multiplier).

X6800 [a "fast" (slow compared to Penryn) desktop CPU; 95W] + 8800M GTX [eats power up like your favorite food; 37W] + <insert all other PC-part power consumptions> = 150+W TDP

Too much for most laptop batteries to handle for a long time. This computer was designed for very little moving-around; more for at-your-desk-playing-Crysis kind of thing.

Which is mostly what I do, but I have to take this to classes every now and then.

Get a cheap dual core laptop (good ones are about $600-$800), people steal good hardware like that (at least that's what I heard). Use the one you currently have for games and CPU intense applications, while you use the other one for school.

You can just get a universal laptop battery to use when that is out.

I saw some at Best Buy today.

Madman, I would +rep you for that, but I can't. XD

I hadn't thought about that before. I'll have to look on newegg and see if I can find one there.
