If you have a different port to plug it in do that, When I didn't have my video card drivers installed, the motherboard vga port worked until that screen, then I had to use the video card's vga port.

| If you mean you hooked up an external monitor to your laptop, you'll likely need to press a hotkey to activate it. Most likely will be your Fn(function) button + another button. In the case of my Dell laptop, it's Fn+f7 or Fn+f8, you may wanna try those.

Yeah, basically just sumarising what some other people have said:
1) BASIC: Check you have fully functional cables in the right places.
2) Check you have the correct drivers installed.
3) If you have an external monitor, make sure you hit any hotkeys that may activate the monitor.
If nothing works... May I suggest you go to a specialised store and seek professional advice?
