I used CE to create some ammo cheats.
Take the pistol, for instance. used standard search, and found the ammo allocation spot in two tries.
After that I used "find what writes to this.." and found one location, which apparently "decreased by 1." that sounded like it would be the ammo, so I clicked "replace" on that, "OK," and then "STOP" and back to the main menu.
I save my work so far. - Restart the game.
Run CE, and load the saved work for Splinter Cell 2. - flip back to the game, and yes - the cheat works.
BUT ...
I click advanced options, and choose to make a standalone trainer. - Choose icon, fill in the text, make the appopriate window size, and choose my code, and add the address which is already in there, named "Pistol Ammo"
I choose that it is meant to be a program running in the background and changing addresses, and then choose to set value at 59 (which means full ammo) and then freeze normally.
Generate the trainer.
Exit CE
Exit Splinter Cell 2
RESTART Splinter Cell 2
ALT+TAB and start the newly saved trainer with hotkey ctrl+L
flip back to the game, and hot my hotkey (ctrl+L)
Game FREEZES
?? - Am I doing something wrong?

it can be that the address did change when using the trainer so you actually wrote 59 to a wrong address and messed up the game. (sometimes a game looks like it always loads the addresses at the same spot, but there only needs to be one small change in your system and the addresses will be at a different address)
I do think you'll need to find the pointer for this address, or if you only want to freeze your ammo, just use the code address you found with "find what writes to this.."

I did that - I wrote that in my original text too.
"fter that I used "find what writes to this.." and found one location, which apparently "decreased by 1." that sounded like it would be the ammo, so I clicked "replace" on that, "OK," and then "STOP" and back to the main menu."

| Yes, but you're also adding a address and set it to freeze, that address is propably wrong at the time the trainer is running. Wich means you're overwriting a random spot of the game causing unexpected things to happen.

Or maybe I misunderstood.
Don't the address that I found with "what writes to this .." automatically "attach" itself to the saved code as I save my work?
If not, how do I enter it into the trainer?
I first found the address with the ammo, then did a "what writes to this.." found ONE address, and "replaced" it.
Then save a trainer, choosing first the code and then address.
Save trainer
Game freeze

Which address should I freeze, then? since that is the effect I am interested in; unlimited ammo.
Maybe I shouldn't include the first found address - maybe this is what Im doing wrong. I should only go with the found address I pressed "REPLACE" on? but if I do that, won't the trainer demand a code And an address?
I thought the code was the first found address, where the ammo was first located.
hehe - sorry - im probably confusing everyone.

When you add a entry to the trainer you have 2 tabs, code and address.
You can just select the replaced code in the code list , set a hotkey and description and click ok. You don't have to use the address tab.
The code tab is filled with the same codes that are in the advanced options window list. (and that list is also filled if you use the replace option of the find what writes option)
