i saw a video on youtube and it was a news report thing about "how to know if your child is a hacker" and it mentioned that "they use linux" how does this os hack better compared to a windows.
where is the download link or is there many versions of it, if there are many versions can you please suggest the best one that i can install into my old computer.

There are hundreds of different distro's of linux. Personally I use opensuse 10.3 and I love it.

Heres a link to a few free Distro ISO downloads:

I have personally used Debian, Red Hat, and Knoppix. If you are looking for a quick tool to have fun with and such, I suggest going with Knoppix as it is a 'live' OS that will run on a CD and does not have to be installed to work. You can hdd install it if you wish, but the better part is you can take it with you and use it anywhere.

i live in new zealand, i googled it and today i saw this azn news thing on tv that said they could buy this really compact laptop and get a free os refering to linux
i googled is linux illegal in new zealand and i found below on a reliable site so id guess its not ilegal here.
