Cheat Engine

I'm working on Hellgate London Single player, starting with money.

I can find the money value in memory, but like some other games that's just for display purposes and the value that needs to be edited is elsewhere. (Pretty sure Diablo II did this also, but it's been a long time) I figured I'd attach the debugger, see what was writing to the display value, and try to backtrack from there. I got the following errors:

Cheat engine failed to attach to the process. (Error=
The thread that was supposed to attach the debugger to the process failed.

Unfortunately these are a bit vague, and I can't find what Error code 8 means. It happens both through right click address -> Find out what writes this address and process list -> attach to process.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get the debugger going here? Or links to someone else's preconfigured cheating tool... I'm lazy enough if someone else has done the work I won't repeat it.


(I'm using the 64 bit Hellgate client on Windows XP Pro 64.)
