Is it of much use what can it be used for effectively, our teacher is going to make us learn it. Turing 4.0.5.

Turing is only used to teach the concepts of programming. Turing has no place in any sort of program development if the program is eventually going to be distributed.

Your course is must likely one designed to introduce to programming to the students. Use Turing to help you learn the basic programming concepts such as variables, conditional statements and procedures. Don't get too comfortable with the syntax however as you will most likely switch to another language should you choose to take the next course.
