Okay, I understand that you can't use Cheat Engines on Windows Vista, but why not? I understand it's something about Vista not supporting a kernel?
Could you explain the following:
1) What is a kernel?
2) What about Windows Vista is it that makes CE incompatible with it?
3) Is there anyway to get around that?
I'm not averse to the idea of getting my hands dirty, as long as it's within my range of knowledge. I'm no C++ expert, but I think I understand the basics.

1: a kernel is the heart of the operating systems, everything revolves arround it, from pressing a key to showing it on the screen
2: vista checks the kernel for modifications and if it sees any changes it craps it's pants and dies
another thing is that it won't load any driver that isn't signed
3: disable that check

| Is there a way to do that with UCE's? 'cause I can get Cheat Engine to start up fine, and it works well, but I need it to do some undetected cheating, and every time I open the thing, my PC reboots before the window finishes popping up.

Turn off Digital Driver Signing Check in Vista:
1. Create a shortcut on the desktop to cmd.exe
(this recipe explains how to create a shortcut if you don't know how)
2. Right-click on the shortcut and select Run as administrator
3. When the command window opens, type or paste the following and press ENTER:
Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON
sup google.

Awesome! Thanks! I've gotta try this. If it works, you're a better googler than I
EDIT: Yeah, I did what you said, but it still brings up the same message, about how the Kernel.dat is outdated, and that I should run the systemcallretriever (I tried running that, too, but the same result), and my PC shuts down as soon as I hit ok.
I did a google for it, and I tried -set instead of /set, with no change in results.

I dont think that works. Try something I found on g@mecheetah: (doesnt work for me and is plain stupid)
Right click the CE icon.
Go to properties.
Go to compatibility.
MAke it complatable with vista.

I hope v5.4 works on vista and doesn't make it

EDIT: CE working for me! Right click the desktop icon, go to properties, compatibility, and Choose "Run in compatibility mode for Windows XP". Works.
