Cheat Engine

I figured I would change something simple like health value. I got the health value, but the problem is when I try to freeze/change the value. It doesn't seem to apply the changes I made in-game. So after that I tryed a few other methods like pointer scan, replace with nop, and diffrent scan types. Still nothing, I even tryed it with other values I found. And this game is only a demo so no cheat protection. Any ideas?
