I've been lurking around many hacking forums for a while. I've tried to understand hacking but I eventually get stopped by lack of experience (got to step 7 of CE tutorial). So, my question is,

As stated in the subject... what do I need to learn to hack effectively? for example, to be able to write my own hacks and bypasses, and know what people are talking about. I know ASM is important, but is there anything else?
